4th International Powdery Mildew Workshop

Following success at the PM summer school in August, next week sees the start (and finish) of the 4th international PM workshop at the Jordell Laboratory, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

This two day conference will be based largely around cutting-edge genomic and transcriptomic research. Fortunately, lectures on life cycles and host specificity, as well as my own (outlining the PM citizen science scheme and my research aims of PM molecular identification), will offer some respite from the otherwise intangible fields. Included in the programme are a dinner at a nearby pub, ‘The Botanist’, and finally a guided tour of the Gardens. Having never been to Kew before this will be a treat.

I am excited to be in the presence of such eminent and well-established researchers, thankful to Syngenta and the BSPP for sponsoring this important event, and hope my own presentation will stimulate thought amongst the community.
